Parent / Carer Forum
The Parent/Carer Forum has been introduced as a means for parents and carers to put forward their views and suggestions to the School Leadership Team and the Governing Body. It is forum through which parents and carers can be consulted, learn more about the school and how they can be
involved in it.
The aim of the Parent/Carer Forum is to:
Reach out and engage with all parents and carers to make a positive and productive contribution to the school community as a whole.
Allow parents and carers the opportunity to voice their opinions and actively contribute to making a difference to the educational and life experiences of pupils
The Parent/Carer Forum is not a decision-making group. The Governing Body remains the decision-maker and provides the strategic leadership for the School. The Parent/Carer Forum has a consultative and advisory role; it is a means to strengthen the voice of parent/carers and to enable them to express their opinions and influence decisions.
Parent/Carers are a driving force behind their children’s achievements, but also for improving the School system as a whole. The Parent/Carer Forum gives parent/carers a route to express their opinions and ideas and the School and the Governing Body a means to sound out parent/carers’ views on decisions about the strategic direction of the School.
The Parent/Carer Forum also supports the Governing Body in promoting the well-being of pupils.
Parent/Carers value not only educational achievement at the School, but a commitment to a positive ethos and a range of activities and opportunities beyond the formal curriculum. Involvement in the Parent/Carer Forum is an opportunity to generate a culture of genuine participation and to attempt to reach those disengaged parent/carers of particular groups of pupils who may face significant barriers to their inclusion such as language, literacy or culture.
The forum is not a platform for complaints that concern individual members of staff or pupils. We kindly ask that these issues are raised directly with the school. However, the Parent/Carer Forum can give insightful comments on school life as a whole.
All parents and carers are automatically members of the Parent/Carer Forum and we hold termly meetings. The details of these meetings are shared in the newsletter in advance and can be found in the school calendar. The meetings will be held at alternate sites throughout the year.
We encourage ALL parents and carers to share their views and suggestions. This can be done via email at JPSParentCarerForum@gmail.com or through the suggestion boxes at the office on each site. The feedback/suggestions we receive are used to inform the discussion at the termly meetings and the outcomes from the meeting is then shared with the School Leadership Team.
