Literacy Lab
What is the Literacy Lab?
The Literacy Lab is a Children’s Charity which provides one-to-one support to primary aged pupils who need additional support in all areas of Literacy: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
What does the Literacy Lab offer?
Literacy Lab offers a dedicated space away from the main classroom where pupils receive a bespoke 45-minute tutoring session, twice a week, from a trained tutor. Pupils also develop self-esteem and are able to work with greater confidence back in the classroom as they work on closing their literacy gap and catching up with their peers.
Who can be referred to Literacy Lab?
We primarily refer KS1 children (mainly year 2) who need additional support with phonics recognition and reading after consulting with the class teachers. Pupils from other year groups may also be referred depending on their needs and circumstances.
Parents/carers of pupils who are receiving Literacy Lab are encouraged to communicate with Literacy Lab teachers to discuss their difficulties and their progress.
Who can I speak to if I am concerned and/or need advice?
If you have any questions, please speak to your class teacher and/or one of our Inclusion Managers.
