Mindfulness

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a practice of bringing a gentle, accepting attitude to the present moment. It can help parents and caregivers, too, by promoting happiness and relieving stress. It is a simple technique that emphasizes paying attention to the present moment in an accepting, non-judgmental manner.

What are the benefits of offering Mindfulness Sessions in schools?

Mindfulness can be a powerful tool, allowing children to deal with adversity more skilfully, and also enhance their understanding of the world and themselves. That can then translate into their own self attitude, giving them space to figure out what they want to do with their lives and who they are.

Mindfulness can be especially helpful to children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and also reduce children’s aggression, anxiety and stress.

How are Mindfulness sessions delivered at Julian’s?

Mindfulness sessions are delivered to all key stage 2 children. A twelve-week mindfulness programme is taught in year 3 and then further sessions are provided to all key stage 2 classes.
