Nursery Admissions
Thank you for choosing Julian's Primary. Our Nursery is a very nurturing, self-contained space within our West Norwood site where children feel settled, happy and safe, whilst beginning to develop their learning and independence. There is no Nursery provison at our Streatham site.
For our September 2026 nursery intake, will be offering a combination of full-time and part-time, term-time only places. This is in response to feedback from our community and to make it easier for working families. We will be offering three types of place:
- Full time sessions: Monday to Friday, 9am - 3pm.
- Part time session 1: Monday and Tuesday, 9am - 3pm, and Wednesday morning, 9am - 12pm.
- Part time session 2: Wednesday afternoon, 12pm - 3pm, Thursday and Friday, 9am - 3pm.
How much will it cost?
All 3- and 4-year-old children are entitled to 15 hours of funded term-time childcare. Some working parents are able to claim an additional 15 hours of funded childcare, allowing for 30 hours in total. To check your eligibility and receive your code, please visit the Government website. If you are not eligible for the 30 hour code for full time places, a top up fee will apply. There will also be the option for children to attend for extended hours 8:30am-9 and 3-3:30pm for an additional cost of £10 per hour.

There is no change to our admissions criteria. Nursery places will continue to be offered in the order detailed in the school’s nursery admissions policy.
Is there an option for extended hours?
There will be the option for full time children to attend for extended hours 8:30am-9 and 3-3:30pm. These are outside of the 30 hours and are provided at a cost of £10 per hour. This is an additional cost of £50 per week for full time places. Extended hours will also be available to part time places at the same rate of £10 per hour.
What will happen at lunch?
Children will bring their own lunch from home every day. A healthy snack in the form of a piece of fruit will be provided. Fresh water is always available.
Will wraparound care be available?
Yes, it will be possible to book wraparound care through our current provider, School Friend Club. They will have a separate early years room for Nursery and Reception children with appropriate adult-to-child ratios. This will be available until 6pm daily. There may also be the option for early drop off from 7:45am to give families greater flexibility if there is demand. Please enquire directly to School Friend Club for pricing structure.
Can I come and see the Nursery before applying?
We are delighted to invite prospective families to come and visit our West Norwood site. We have an additonal Open DAy on Tuesday 24th March 2026 and this is via appointment only. Appointments are available to book via our booking link. Please sign up early to avoid disappointment. We look forward to welcoming you to Julian's!
How do I apply for a Nursery place?
Children start Nursery in the academic year (September to August) that they have their 4th birthday. The closing date for applications for September 2026 places is 31st March 2026.
To apply, please download the Julian's Primary Nursery application form below and send the completed form to admissions@juliansprimary.org.uk.
On the form, you will be asked for your preference of a full-time or part time (session 1 or session 2) place. Places are offered according to our Nursery Admissions Policy available below.
What if I missed the deadline for a Nursery place?
You can put in an application after the deadline and be added to the waiting list. The waiting list is kept in order of the admissions criteria so you may not automatically be at the bottom. As places become available, we will contact you to offer you a place.
Please note: Children who are currently in Julians' Primary Nursery are not automatically offered a place in Reception. Parents/Carers of current Nursery pupils should follow the application process for Reception.
