At Julian’s, we believe that every child has a voice and the opportunity to make a difference. Our School Ambassador Programme gives our Year 6 pupils the chance to take on leadership responsibilities, represent their peers and play an active role in shaping school life.
Our School Ambassadors are role models who demonstrate our school values of Respect, Integrity, Creativity, Excellence and Resilience. They help to make Julian’s an even better place to learn, grow and thrive.
Each year, two School Ambassadors are selected from every Year 6 class.
During the summer term of Year 5, children are invited to apply by explaining why they would like to become an Ambassador, the qualities they would bring to the role and how they hope to make a positive contribution to our school community.
Applications are reviewed by a selection panel, with successful candidates taking up their roles in Year 6.
Our Ambassadors take on a wide range of exciting and meaningful responsibilities, including:
Representing our school: Welcoming visitors, supporting school events and helping to showcase everything that makes Julian’s special.
Celebrating achievements: Taking an active role in our Star Assemblies, presenting certificates and recognising the successes of fellow pupils.
Sharing pupil voices: Meeting regularly with the Executive Headteacher to discuss school life, share ideas and help shape improvements.
Supporting learning: Taking part in learning walks and offering valuable pupil perspectives on teaching and learning.
Welcoming new families: Leading school tours and helping prospective parents and children feel part of the Julian’s community.
Making a difference: Choosing a school charity, organising fundraising activities and exploring opportunities to support the charity's work.
Helping younger pupils: Supporting younger children with reading, maths and other activities, as well as offering encouragement and friendship.
Improving our school environment: Contributing ideas and helping to develop our school buildings, grounds and learning spaces.
Leading by example: Demonstrating kindness, responsibility and our school values in everything they do.
Throughout the year, Ambassadors are encouraged to develop their role, take initiative and find new ways to make a positive difference.
We look for children who are enthusiastic about making a difference and who demonstrate the qualities of a positive leader.
Our Ambassadors aim to be:
Kind and respectful – treating everyone with care, fairness and consideration.
Reliable and responsible – taking their commitments seriously and leading by example.
Confident communicators – willing to share ideas, speak to others and embrace new experiences.
Good listeners – valuing different opinions and respecting the views of others.
Thoughtful decision-makers – making sensible choices and working positively with others.
Hardworking and enthusiastic – showing commitment, initiative and a willingness to help.
Positive role models – inspiring others through their actions, attitudes and behaviour.
Above all, we want our Ambassadors to be passionate about Julian’s and proud to represent our school community.
Being a School Ambassador is a wonderful opportunity for children to develop confidence, communication, teamwork and leadership skills. It encourages them to take responsibility, understand different perspectives and discover the positive impact they can have on the world around them.
At Julian’s, our Ambassadors don't just represent our school – they help shape its future.
