  • Smartphone Free Childhood

In April 2026, we asked our community to vote on whether Julian’s should become a Smartphone Free Childhood Gold Status School. The response was overwhelmingly supportive, and we are delighted that this has now been adopted across both sites. Smartphones and smartwatches are not permitted on the school premises. We now have only a small number of basic ‘brick’ phones being handed into the school office each day by children in Years 5 and 6 who travel home independently. Children who need a smartphone or other device to monitor a medical condition, such as diabetes, are of course exempt.

As the next step in our commitment to creating a smartphone-free environment for our children, we kindly ask parents and carers not to use smartphones while on the school site. This includes using phones to film or photograph school activities and performances. We know that seeing and capturing those special school moments is important to families, and we really appreciate your support in helping us model a more present, phone-free environment for our children while they are at school.
