Julian’s Primary School formed the parent/carer forum in March 2013. This was in response to requests from parents/carers who wanted to have greater involvement in school life. A need was identified for parents/carers to be able to contribute thoughts and ideas, and to be involved in consultations and focus groups in a more structured way.
The parent/carer forum is not a decision making group. The remit of decision making is held by school leaders and the Governing Body. However, the parent/carer forum can give insightful comment on single-issue topics such as homework, communications and parent/carer workshops. A member of the senior leadership team is available at the end of each meeting to answer questions on the topic of the meeting.
The parent/carer forum is run by parents/carers. It is an inclusive organisation. The Chair, Co-ordinator and Secretary welcome input and feedback from parents/carers of all backgrounds and with children in all year groups.
