Special invitation - Evacuation day
To start our new term, we would like to invite all children in Year 6 to a World War II Evacuation Day. During half term we would like the children to consider what items they would take with them if they needed to evacuate their home.
On Monday 29th October (first day back after half term), children can bring in to school a shoebox containing a few item to share with the class. Examples might include a family photograph, a favourite book, special toy, a letter from home or some pencils and paper. We would also like them to research and dress up as WWII evacuees.
Thank you and congratulations on a successful first half-term.
Enjoy the break!
Our Class Assembly
Wow that was fun! We just finished our class assembly, it was really exciting. Everyone loved acting out our PGL adventures. During the play, we did scenes from the whole trip - it was almost as fun as the real thing. The comedy in it was top notch. Some of the children acted like they were professionals. We enjoyed going on stage and acting. The scenes were: the boat scene, the climbing scene, the disco scene, night scene and the home time scene. Each went splendidly.
If you came, we hope that you really enjoyed it because we know we did.
Our Amazing Trip to Liddington
Well, what a first few weeks that has been! We have just arrived back from our awesome trip to PGL where we got to try many new activities and have a great time.
On arriving at school, we gave our suitcases in before making the long walk to the West Norwood site. We all hoped our bags would make it onto the bus (don't worry... they did!).
Upon arriving, we had the opportunity to get into our rooms and unpack before our first game began: 'AMBUSH'. Here, we split into two teams before hunting for each other in the woods... in the dark! Then, over the next few days, we got to try many new activities and have many great experiences. We:
> climbed various styles of towers and even jumped off the top of one.
> absailed down a giant tower
> worked together to make a raft before taking to a lake
> zoomed down a zip wire
> used a map and compass to navigate
> showed off our dancing skills at the disco
We had a fantastic time, so please ask us all about it. We have so many stories to share!
