Dear parents and carers,
This week in English we have been writing a recount of our Christmas holiday as well as setting ourselves targets for the year ahead. For homework this week, we would like you to write a diary entry about your weekend. Where did you go? Can you describe the food you ate? What did you do? Who were you with?
Remember to use adverbial phrases (explaining how, when and where something happened).
E.g Carefully, I put the cake tin in the hot oven. (How)
At my friend’s house, I played a fun board game. (Where)
On Sunday, I had my swimming lesson. (When)
As it’s a new term we are starting a fresh KIRF target! (see Key Instant Recall Facts sheet). For homework this week, we would like to ask you to show your prior knowledge of the orange target, number bonds to 10. Remember to show addition facts and related subtraction facts.
2 + 8 = 10 8 + 2 = 10 10 – 2 = 8 10 – 8 = 2
As a challenge can you show us what you know about the yellow and/or green target?
Spelling homework will be set each week, where the children are encouraged to learn a set of 8 words. We will then do a quiz next week to see how they have got on. The words for this week are: own, ninth, none, fright, light, rain, weather, burned
If you have any queries about homework please feel free to ask. Thank you!
