Welcome to 1R
Welcome to the new school year and I hope you all had a lovely summer break! It is wonderful to see the children back in school, all so happy and keen to share their news. Thank you for all the wonderful holiday projects which the children have presented to the class so enthusiastically.
Week 2 and we are beginning to settle into our routines. We will be reading a book together (I won't reveal the title yet as this is a surprise for Wednesday!). The children are enjoying demonstrating their knowledge of number sequencing and we are covering the fundamentals of place value so that they can confidently tackly more difficult problems later on.
Our Creative Context enquiry question is Why Do We Play With Different Toys As We Grow Older? This has a history focus and there are some fantastic books linked to the topic which will support our reading and writing. Later on in the term we will visit The Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood.
Our PE day is: Tuesday. The children will also need PE kit on Thursday as they will have an active Drama session.
Homework will be given out on Friday each week (beginning on 14 September), it should be handed in to me by Wednesday.
Please try to read with your child every day for ten minutes, asking them questions about the story and encouraging them to predict what is going to happen. This will support their learning across the curriculum.
I am really looking forward to working with your children!
