YEAR 5 HOMEWORK 21.06.19
Reading Journal / topic work: As part of out topic ‘Why do I live here?’ and ‘’Who are we?’ we will be looking at migration histories. We would like you to spend some time discussing/researching your own family migration history. Some of you will have grandparents/parents who are from other countries; some of you may have families who have lived here for generations. Perhaps if you reach back further in time, you might find there has been more migration than you think!
Please make notes in your reading journal about:
Where your family comes from (go back as far as you want!)
Reasons for moving (please only share information your family is comfortable with)
You can choose an alternative person to research like e.g. the poet ‘Benjamin Zephaniah’’
Challenge: How do you think the places your family has lived might have affected who they are? (E.g. urban/rural/opportunities/jobs)
If you would prefer not to share personal information, please research one of these examples of migration: WINDRUSH GENERATION / ITALIAN MIGRATION TO NEW YORK
Maths: See below/opposite side
Remember to practice your KIRFS target and times tables! These skills are essential.
Use TOP MARKS - HIT THE BUTTON to help you practice our new KIRFS too. There are also tasks on MATHLETICS to help you get quicker and more fluent with your maths.
Spellings: Please continue revising old spellings
Have a great weekend!
