Julian's Primary School has been involved with School Direct since the early planning stages in 2011. We work as part of the Dunraven School Direct Primary Partnership to deliver high quality teacher training. Our training provider is Roehampton University.
This year, 2017-18, we have five school direct trainees working across both sites from Year 2 to Year 6. Trainee teachers are typically placed with our year group leaders and receive excellent support and mentoring for senior staff.
We have taken a full and active role in designing a training programme which draws on the talents of experienced teachers and mentors in school. We have invested heavily in School Direct and we are confident of providing a high quality, well supported programme for existing and prospective students. We have a number of trained mentors who work together to ensure excellent professional and pastoral support for our students. To date, we have recruited all of our school direct trainees and many of our substantive teachers have come through this route; as an expanding school, the school direct programme has enabled us to nurture our own teachers of the future.
Applications open in October through UCAS and the first round of interviews will be held in November and December 2017. If you would like to apply for a School Direct place at Julian's, please search for 'Dunraven' through UCAS and choose the campus option for Julian's.
The Dunraven partnership is holding a recruitment event on Tuesday 17th October at 10am - follow the link for further details https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/school-direct-information-event-primary-teaching-tickets-36512045511?ref=estw.
